I’m building a wet bar and the hutch that will be resting on top I need t install a 40×40 mirror as the back panel. There will be a 3/4 top and a 3/4 shelf about a third of the way up with a 3/8 rabbit cut into the sides for the mirror to rest on and apply adesive. If I use 1/4 mirror I think that will be to heavy to rely on the adhesive to keep it in place but offers the most strength if I use 1/8 mirror it to weak and if I use a backer board the the weight could be an issue again.
If anyone could offer some advise on how to secure such a big mirror I would appreciate it.
I dont know what I would do without all of you.
Thank You
Sean

My glass supplier has chrome standards that will handle that much weight without a problem. The bottom units are mounted rigid, and the top are spring loaded. You slip the glass into the top clips and raise it on the springs until the bottom fits. When the mirror comes to rest, there's very little of a visible clip.
I sure don't have a name brand or supplier, though. Check with any glass shop. They're much nicer than the box store plastic mounts. Two top and two bottom is all it will take.
