I, and many other furniture makers, have for years used cedar to line closets and cabinets where clothing is to be stored. A friend recently mentioned he had read an article that stated there were negetives in doing so. He couldn’t remember where he read it or what the reasoning was. Can anyone lend a little insight?

I've heard that "aeromatic" cedar can fly away from you if you're not careful. (tongue in cheek). Seriously, the only negative I can think of would be that some people find the smell of aromatic cedar in their clothes to be a bit much.

I have read a study that said it does nothing to repeal moths. I believe that is why people originally used cedar. But they determined that any airtight enclosed space would protect the clothes from moths, go figure. Of course we spent state money to figure that one out.
