aftermarket splitter for a powermatic tablesaw
Does anybody know if there is an aftermarket splitter available for a Powermatic 66 tablesaw? The saw is in an educational environment so safety is very important. The original guard that came with the saw is giving us cronic problems, so the plan is to get an overarm guard in combination with a splitter. I could probably fabricate one but buying one would be easier. I considered retrofit riving knives but it looks like the only one that is made does not fit Powermatic. Delta makes a splitter that has anti-kickback pawls attatched. Something like this that would fit Powermatic would be ideal.
Thanks!

Look into a Shark Guard. Pawls are an available option, and DC from the top is standard. Extremely well made. Less expensive than an overarm guard, and IMO much more convenient, and I use both on a regular basis.
Lead time is a little long, but good things come to those who wait.
I have a model 66 , and I added a Biesemeyer splitter to it. It was a bit of a pain to line up, but it has worked well ever since I installed it.
I know what you men about the original guard on the model 66. It was a real pain to use. I took mine off, and replaced it with a Delta Deluxe Uniguard model 34-976. I had to drill and tap a coupe of new holes to mount it, but it fit on there just fine. It, too, works well.
Hope this helps.
