Agazzani or MiniMax 20″ bandsaw
I am planning this purchace in the near future and would like feedback from owners or users of these saws. The prices are the same but the MiniMax has more capicity more hp and is about 75# heavier. So I am now leaning in that direction, but I would like to hear about overall quality and fit and finish, along with customer service of both machines.
Thanks

I purchased my agazzani 18" one year ago. Needless to say I am very happy with it. I have been using it to cut veneer as thin as 1/16" and have gotten a perfect cut each time. The feature I like the most is the tensioning guage, it is a linkage and not a spring and is very accurate. I am not familar with the Minimax, but if you purchase a band saw make sure that it has a good tensioning system on it. Good Luck
I'm also getting a bandsaw. Is it your opinion that agazzani and minimax are superior to jet. delta and laguna?

At the present time I am using the Jet 18" and it is a great saw but I have outgrown it. It is in my opinion underpowerd for the capacity it has. I would recomend it however to those on a budget that want a larger framed saw. The laguna has had mixed reviews and from what I have seen in person of this saw I feel I could do better. This is why my interest's are with the Agazzani or MiniMax. The other thing that lead me away from the Laguna was the non stop phone calls from the sales rep,Plus the machine he was trying to sell me wasn,t even in stock.
Good Luck with your decision

Dear Timber,
I bought theMinimax 16 and have seen the 20". I am thoroughly plesed with mine and wrote a review in the Badger pond articles section. The 20 is more of the same...The 16 has a 12"+ resaw capacity

You are welcome to see it if you are located anywhere near Baltimore
With either I think you will be happy. last time I went looking for a bandsaw they told me to look at the solidity of the fly wheels rather than the total weight of the machine to insure smooth running. Granted this was on saws from 50cm up, here anything under that is considered hobby junk.(there is no hobby market here).

I've had a 20" Agazzani for about a year and a half. I’m very happy with my saw. I did some careful research comparing it to the Laguna before I bought the Agazzani. The balanced cast iron wheels and cold vulcanized tires are the best on the market. Even though the motor is 3HP I've never lacked for power, even resawing 12" hardwood and tree trunks. In my opinion the Agazzani is a superior machine and Eagle Tools http://www.eagle-tools.com/index.html is excellent to deal with. Posts on several web sites indicate Laguna has been inconsistent with their customer service. If you want detailed info I can e-mail you. If you need further incentive, Sam Maloof, the FWW shop and Mark Duginske all use the Agazzani.
