I am looking to purchase an air compresor for my shop. Harbor Freight has a twin tank 1.5hp oil lubed compressor on sale for $89 (Central Pneumatic). Anyone own this type? I know the gun should be of good quality but can I get away with this type of compressor? I would be using it in the shop for assembling occasional cabinets and such and sometimes on job site installations. Probably would only be using a brad or stapler, no spraying.
Thanks.

A compressor is a fairly complicated piece of machinery, and the HF stuff is pretty junky, and the one you mentioned is bigger than you really need for just running nail guns. A top-of-the-line compressor in this size category would cost upwards of $300.
For not much more than the HF compressor, you can pick up one of the smaller compressors that are coming on to the market, like this one:

They do fine with any kind of finish nailers, and they are very lightweight (about 20 lbs), so they are easy to carry to wherever you are working.
If you google "senco compressors" you will find plenty of info on the various models they are selling these days.
The top brands, IMO, are Thomas and Rol-Air. I would look there to see what they have, then compare with the less expensive brands -- HF, Porter Cable, Dewalt, Campbell Hausfield, etc.

Thanks for the info! I have already looked at the ones you recommended. Will probably purchase one soon.
You will find the real experts on compressors over at Breaktime. Most of those people are construction types, and many have had experiences with all sorts of brands, etc. You might take your question over there; also, do a search on past threads on the topic.********************************************************
