This started out under the heading of “pneumatic nailer”. I have gotten plenty of info on that subject but in the process have decided to probably upgrade to a 16G model. While I am at it, I would like to also change my air compressor. At the moment, I have a Campbell Hausfeld electric which sounds like a runaway freight train.
Any suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated.

I originally bought a 20 gallon, 3hp model that is "oilless". I figured it was big and powerful enough to handle all of my future needs.
After using it for a while, I realized that I had two new needs. I needed something that was a lot more portable. The 20 gallon unit has wheels and a handle, but putting it in my pickup requires a ramp. And as a Handyman, I take my compressor with me a lot.
I also realized that I needed something much quieter. Nailing up crown molding in existing homes, while grandma is napping, is noisy enough. But when that beast kicks on, it could wake the dead.
I now have a much smaller, quieter unit. I use it for everything except painting and finishing. The HVLP takes more air than the small compressor can handle.
Many thanks for the info
The nail guns only require a small compressor, since the air demand is very intermittent. Even though I usually work in my shop, I hate waiting for the big tank to fill if I only need to shoot a few nails. And hate the energy that is wasted.
On the other hand, the big compressor is barely adequate for my conversion spray gun.
For now, I am using my big, noisy Campbell Hausfeld (cheap) compressor. But when it dies, I will probably go to a turbine for true HVLP spraying, and a small compressor for the nail gun.
Since you are also in the market for the nail gun, be sure to look at the package deals - I wish I had done so, since the savings are great buying both the nail gun and a small compressor at the same time.
I don't know what you are using the nail gun for, but consider whether the 16 gauge is a compromise that won't be good for either the brad nailing or the finish nailing applications (as in my response to the other posting).
Charlie:
See my post to you (# 15427.10) re the combination sets.
I actually had it in my hand at HD and having (2) nailers made a real impression. Kind of covers all the bases ( again assuming the quality is there)
Thanks again.
