having problems with the akeda jig as to Half Blind joints and wondereing if anyone may have a solution for me.
have the jig, dont use it very often, but i hope someone out there use’s it more then i and can help.
when I put the joint together i have a gap from the tail board to the pin board(drawer front). The tails fit snuggly in the pins but there is a gap from the end of the tails (or bottom of tails where they are the thinest) to the pin (again drawer front) that is even from top to bottom.
I can be assured that the board is flat with no cupping etc that the manual says may be the cause, and am unsure what the problem may be.
Anyone have a clue? or a tip particular to the Akeda?……does anyone but me have one?…….
Thanks for the help steve

Can't help you with your problem, but I have a friend who owns one, uses it extensively, and loves it. Check the manual?

If I understand the Q. then it sounds like the socket is not long enough? I don't have your jig but on most that I'm familiar with, the pin board socket is cut to the lenght of the tails.
I haven't had this problem myself, but I understand from what I've read that this problem is caused by a sub base on your router that isn't absolutely flat, or it's somewhat flexible. The base needs to be totally flat AND rigid. If you can flex it even slightly by pushing on the guide bushing, then you need to get a more rigid base like the Intelli sold by thejigstore.com.

Jerry, thanks for the link.
i emailed Akeda later the same day i posted on knots and had a very detailed and personal email response from Kevan lear with in the hour!!....mind you it was a sunday.
Not only did he give me great reasons and solutions to my problem,he asked that if i emailed my phone number he would call me that day and walk me thru the problem.
I cant properly express how impressed i am with Akeda and Kevan Lear, i will sing their praises wherever I can!
This kind of customer service is just unheard of anymore.
thanks again. take care steve
So- how do you like the jig? The Akeda got some good reviews awhile back, but you don't here much about it lately. Has it been eclipsed by the new PC? Or do you (or others) like it?Glaucon
