I was watching Bob Flexner’s tape on fixing furniture and he said that alcohol will cristilize hide glue. I am assuming he meant denatured alcohol but that fact didn’t come out. I saw a can with the wording “Petite” on it and took it to be the can the alcohol came in. Did a search and couldn’t find any mention of a alcohol brand named “Petite” Any ideas??????????

I do not know anything about "Petite" brand. However I wonder if the term "crystallize" is not quite right. First of all I would not assume that only denatured alcohol would cause changes in the character and structure of hide glue. As hide glue is protein and collagen and is hydrophilic, any concentrated alcohol (the alcohol you would have is probably 95%) will cause the hide to denature and come out of solution.
