I might have some alder to sell but I’m not sure what alder is going for these days.
All the lumber is 1″ thick and the boards range from 4″ wide to 11″ wide. All the boardsa re 10-11 ft. long. Some if it is clear and some has knots.
What are you paying for alder in your area?

I'm in Oregon and I have somewhere between 100-300 bd ft. I think I'm not sure there may be more than that.
I might be interested also. I'm in the Seattle area, and starting up a project that will use alder.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)

Hi Doug ,
My brother in law is a landscaper up in Tacoma and they think that Alder is more of a weed than a cabinet wood . I think the majority comes from B.C. and from deeper in Canada . There probably is some , in Washington but not as much as further North .

I was told by a small mill owner that a lot of the alder currently being sold at retail/wholesale is coming from China.
Dick ,
Well that is a new one for my ears . Although it sounds strange considering the fact that I was told the very finest Alder logs , called export quality , from the North West are shipped to Japan to make pulp for the best fax paper money can buy .
who knows dusty
Too funny, Doug! Yeah, you'd think we could, but all the alders that fall down next door to us are skinny little things. I was thinking just the other day that I rarely see one big enough to cut up into 4/4 stock. (no, I'm not making that up, LOL)

Here I thought Washington was thick with nice alder!
But, YOUR STILL CLOSER THAN I AM :)
Actually its fairly available down here in TX, I'm building a large kitchen out of alder right now. Well not right now, but you know what I mean.
BTW, when I first came on this place back in 02 you and I had a discussion about alder, you were considering making some display cases (I think that's what it was) out of alder, you were concerned about the blotchyness of the wood.
Did you ever build them?
