I’m wondering what you all use for wall mounting your work.
I’m finishing up this display case. and was figuring on using some nice keyhole hangars. one on each side of the back or something. it’s going onto a block wall, so studs and spacing aren’t a concern.
I started wondering what other “nice” options are out there instead. I’m not even sure keyhole hangars count as nice, anyway. I can’t find any pretty ones online.
I’ll post some pics of this display case I want to hang in case it gives any build-specific suggestions, but I’m also curious about any kind of hardware that you guys like in general or even non-hardware methods.
All things wall mounting thread lol…another Bentusi special..I like learning.

Nothing wrong with keyholes, just hard to get them dead-level. Tin foil shims can be useful for small adjustments.
Allowing space in the back for a french cleat is my go to approach.
Thats a great tip if i go that route, thanks.
Ive done those in the past but i was never really happy with the result.
Im positive im doing it goofy though.
Do you mind posting a pic of a nice french cleat? or a link to one?
Also, its too late to do a cleat on this right? without it looking bulky.
Type "french cleat" into the search box at the top of the page, I'm sure you'll learn all you need.
If it's big & heavy like a mirror or shadowbox, I like the metal french cleats like these https://www.amazon.com/OOK-Hillman-533208-Hangman-9-piece/dp/B005PUC4KE?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=1 They keep things close to the wall, and there are smaller ones as well.
But for most lighter frames, I just use the wires and a nailed or screwed hanger. https://www.wayfair.com/National-Hardware--Picture-Hangers-N260042-L2393-K~AJJH1321.html?refid=GX643872082981-AJJH1321&device=c&ptid=1718045642056&network=g&targetid=pla-1718045642056&channel=GooglePLA&ireid=212245189&fdid=1817&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD9ISC4PPLon2zQg0LRubCvTVeKLg&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0ruyBhDuARIsANSZ3wrMl9y-EYwLa7CaHzSCeJOdpuuIb-2bEg_iX4ki1nP5gSqJmv6Ex7QaAjwzEALw_wcB
For small(ish) wall display cabinets, I like to use these.

For larger, heavier units, my preference is as MJ stated. Design room for the depth of a French cleat. I generally use 3/4 scrap or ply.
Those are nice-looking keyholes and just what I've been trying to find.
So far, I think I might put those recessed keyholes in just to have them as an option and also use the Z clip bars AJ mentioned.
I'm curious to see if others chime on more stuff, though.
It seems too late for the French cleats on this one. Ill have to spend some time thinking it through and doing some research next time.

I really like these as options.
I was actually trying to find something like this but didnt know what it would be called.
Thanks.
Type French cleat into amazon search and you'll get plenty of results.
However, I always use shop made wood cleats. Like these:

Thanks!. I learned a lot reading through that.
I had no idea there was keyhole router bits.
