i am just getting started in wood working. i am looking for a book or articles that go into great detail about the expansion and contraction of different types of domestic woods. i am trying to figure out where its required to use quartersawn boards or i can use flat sawn and also what types of joints to use with each as well as which to glue and which to leave loose. for my first project i plan to try to make a living room end table out of red or white oak.
thank you for any information you can provide, Jason.

Hoadley's Understanding Wood is probably the best book on the subject.
