Hi,
I bought a 6902 vs poter cable with a 693 plung base for a 100 buck. It’s a display unit so there is no carry case, but it still brand new. I know I saw at another HD for $140, but none instock.Since, no carry case, I have no hardware, I wonder how the motor attack to the plung base. Anyway, do I got a good deal?vn

Yeah, you got a good deal, especially if by vs, you mean variable speed. There is no hardware to attach the motor to the plunge base. It simply slides down into it, and is held in place with the allen head set screw. Fiddle with it, go slow, don't force it, and you'll see how it all goes together.

Yeah! It's variable speed. I 've tried to be smart, came back to HD and ask "Mr. nice guy" to help me to find the case but got the answer that the case has been thrown away once they mounted in the display!!! I figured how to mount the plunge base, thanks. BTW, since I was at HD, I took a look at the new model 1 3/hp, believe it or not the template say rpm ... to 27000 and the motor is 6902. So what make one goes from 1 1/2 hp to 1 3/4 hp w/o any change?

The 1 3/4 hp could be no load hp instead of loaded hp. It could be theoretic hp of how much ph the router can produce be adding up all the voltage and amps and ohms it uses. It could also be that they tested it before at say 110 volts and now tested it at 120 volts. It could also be they also wind the armature and fields with finer wires, or use a better iron that is effected by magnetism more so more hp. All the out side stay the same.
