OK, gotta vent here! I’m trying to find the Jesada Rabbet Master kit on-line (’cause it’s not available in a store anywhere). Amazon’s out right now, so I go a-searching with Google. Everything (and I mean Everything) goes back to Damazon!!!! There are lots of other names in the hyperlinks, but they all go back to the big monster. AAaarrrggghhhhhh! This is worse than Microsoft!

I'm sorry, this is the way that .com's keep you comming back and everytime you come back their advertisers (banner adds) pay them. Pretty much stinks doesnt it... I'll go look for the Jesada's for you if you want...
Hi Cuttoff (ahhhhh, does this name sound familiar? Are you going incognito? I miss the sig:-( I'd be ever indebted if you could find 'em. Usually, Google produces the hits I need, but got nowhere in the first 30 hits. Tried Northwest Power Tools, but they don't carry Jesada.
At one point, considered the Freud set, but then read the reviews at Amazon. Man! does Freud have a problem with those sets! Every single reviewer blasted Freud for having made-in-China bearing-reducing collars that had to be used with the bits, major hassle, often didn't fit, and on and on. Whew, close call.

Wow Kiddo, didn't I say something was up with Freud... Didnt think it was that bad... Hey, I'll check on the Jeseda stuff for ya...
BTW, not going incognito.. just making the transistion like I said I would a couple of weeks ago. Gotta admit.... it is nice being a newbee again...I can ask all the stupid questions I need to and get honest answers again. Ya know, once people think your stupid for real they question everything you say...LOL

That's some serious bad advertising!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
anything wrong with buying from the factory? Jesada online: http://www.jesada.com/
Jase, nice call.. matter of fact, seems like this is the only place you can buy them on the internet.
Hmmmm, they only seem to have the 1/4" shank set on their web site. Bummer! I'm pretty much set on sticking to 1/2" shanks. Wonder what's the deal.
Take Two: I found it. It just didn't show up in the search. Talk about bad search!

Why dont you just call Jesada directly? I bought 4 rabbeting bits last week. By the way, the one I bought 3 years ago and have put through hell, is still wicked sharp.
I'm going to order it through their web site. forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
they usually do not process internet orders until the next day.
But you do get that big $2 discount.
No huge rush on my end.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
In case you aren't aware of this, all of the major search engines accept payment from folks like Amazon so that they will show up at the beginning of the results from your search. Google held out the longest, but they eventually caved as well. Kinda crappy, but there ya go.
Yep, I knew that. Generally, though, I get lot's of options with Google. What's frustrating with the Amazon thing is that there are multitudes of nameotherthanamazon.coms that show up in a tool search, but when you click on them you see that they're joined at the hip with Amazon, but with a different domain name. That means that even if I do an advanced search, and asked it to screen out any amazon.com hits, I still get all these camouflaged outfits.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Dear FG,
No reason for egg on the face, It can get confusing - where to buy what from whom. But yes, as one of our members pointed out, the best way to order this product is from the manufacturer themselves. I'm sure you have recieved those Jesada catalogs in the mail with that Italian guy on the front telling us how very superior his router bits are and why he charges more persay. BUT, did you read that scathing review in FW (couple years back?) where they tested nearly all the different manufacturer's bits - Jesada was priced the highest but came out nearly the worst in the trial. Their bit cut the worst - then the shank snapped off at the end. FW published Jesada's official explanation in the following issue. Apparently the bits were going to be completely "re-engineered". It was quite a funny show to watch. Heres a little factoid: Jesada lost a court battle with CMT (another manufacturer of router bits and similar items). I believe the debate was over a similar name or color or something. CMT won, so the loser (now Jesada) had to rename the company. He combined the names of his son and daughter, Jessy and Ellada, and came up with Jesada. Yes, this is perfectly worthless trivia, but now you know."Hide not your talents, they were for use made. What's a sun-dial in the shade?"

I don't know what their prices were like a couple of years ago, but their rabbeting set is $20 less than the CMT set as it's priced at my local store. TERRE5 sure seems to have gotten good service from the one he bought (see mssg. #4 above). There were many divergent opinions about the test that FW did with those bits, and I wasn't convinced that the results were terribly reflective of the quality of the bits. I read lots of reviews when making decisions about tools, but I also give considerable weight to personal testimony, in this forum and others, from people who've used them vigorously in their shops.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Sounds like you've got a pretty good deal there, FG. I'm sure their bits are A-ok, and if you hear alot of sunshine about the Jesadas, then definitely place your order. I listen to alot of personal testimony too. Sometimes I'm weary of the tool reviews being partially biased due in part to the amount of advertising the tool makers place in the magazine. FW, maybe not as much. But magazines like Wood ? Sheeesh. Those guys are complete sellouts to their advertisers."Hide not your talents, they were for use made. What's a sun-dial in the shade?"

You guys (and ladies of course....) might want to try Ballew Tools @ 800-288-7483. For the items they carry, they are as cheap or cheaper than Amazon, keep better stock, answer their phone, and talk to you like they want your business. I bought a multi-profile router bit from them at about 25% less than routerbits.com and a few other sites... And I just ordered a Vega Pro 26 fence for only $20 more than Amazon wanted for the Utility (homeshop) version.
Tell them Terry from Delray Beach, FL sent you - maybe they'll give me a discount next time!
Regards,
Terry
'scuze me while I wipe the egg off my face. Sheesh! I'm so used to the tool company web-sites just being a show-n-tell (with no sales) that I didn't even think to check! Oh well, I woke up 3 hours early this morning, so the brain isn't exactly sharp.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Hiya Rick, thanks for the testimonial. I'm pretty convinced that this is a fine bit, and it's definitely a great price. Yep, I've seen TOS's ads. However, their prices rarely beat what I can get locally (on things like planers, routers, saws). I'm going to order the Jesada direct from the company.
forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Jesada used to be the distributor for CMT in the US. CMT bits are made in Italy. The distributer tried to usurp CMT's US business by knocking-off CMT's tooling right down to the orange color and calling themselves CMT USA. They were sued and lost (rightly so) and had to change their name and color. I haven't and will never buy anything Jesda because they are Cucking Frooks! If I remember right the spin doctors not only have the guy's face plastered in the ads but I think he goes into some sappy story about how he named the company after his daughter.
If you want another on-line source for CMT's, which is all I buy for the most part, try http://www.mikestools.com he's a good guy.
PS: Don't worry about Amazon too much, they haven't learned how to make money yet so I don't think they'll hang to much longer. Case in point, I ordered a micropinner and 3 boxes of pins from Amazon. They filled the order in 3 UPS shipments over the span of three days. How much money could they have made (or lost) on two $8 boxes of micropins shipped UPS separately?John O'Connell - JKO Handcrafted Woodworking

Well, John, sounds like you feel pretty strongly about this! For my part though, if they make a good product, and aren't killing elephants for ivory or dumping cigarettes in the third world, I'll buy their tools. What they did was a pretty stupid move, and undoubtedly aggravating to CMT, but that (unfortunately maybe) is business.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Call it whatever, but it comes down to theft and I just can't stand theft. It probably goes back to the first time I got ripped-off. At 14, I got a summer 'yard boy' job at a concrete batch plant. $1.50 an hour, 40 hours a week for shoveling out bucket line pits, chipping out mixer drums, spreading oil in the yard ... boy wouldn't that go over well today! Anyway I saved up my 1st 3 weeks pay and spent it all on a Schwinn Continental and retired the old 3-speed. A month later someone stole it out of the garage at home. Never got over it I guess.John O'Connell - JKO Handcrafted Woodworking

Hi Rick, thanks for lookin' around! I was toying with the idea of the Freud set until I read about the problems people were having with them. Check this out, you'll be glad you don't have one!

Try the Jesada website direct! I don't find Amazon a good value. If I look a little, I can find the same prices local or, I also like seven corners hardware in Mn. Don't know why you return to Amazon so often with your searches; never had that problem.
I already ordered the Rabbet Master set from Jesada. I think the reason Amazon was returning like a bad penny is because the Jesada stuff is sold by no one else -- it would appear that you can buy from Jesada or from Amazon, period. Unless there's another catalog out there somewhere, some outfit that isn't high on the search-return list.
This particular router bit search is the only time I've had quite this kind of Amazon domination, although the Amazon-in-other's-clothing thing shows up in other searches.
When that little gem arrives, I'm gonna get some bookcases made!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
