Does water based aniline dye have a finite “shelf life” after being mixed from the dry powder? My quess is no, but can anyone confirm this for me? I’ve only used oil-based stains and premixed dyes, never water based, dry powder. Any help appreciated. Dave

I have not had any noticeable degradation in the remains of a batch I mixed over a year ago. I just keep adding to the "pot" and using as I go.
Not scientific but it works.

I have some of Lockwood's water soluble dyes made up in canning jars. Some of the pigment will settle and you will have to shake it up. As long as the container is sealed so the water can't evaporate, they should last indefinitely.
