On a standard 10″ saw, what’s the maximum depth of cut using an 8″ vs a 6″ blade. Maybe this is an obvious answer, but have no experience with a stacked set, and am weighing the pro’s and con’s.
I’m badly needing a stacked set. I’d be making mostly shallow cuts anyway and I couldn’t imagine needing to make anything deeper than 2″. I have the newer Ridgid tablesaw.

Use a Sharpie to mark your 10" saw blade at 3" and 4" from the center of the arbor hole. (These marks will correspond to 6" and 8" diameters).
Put the blade in your saw and run it as far up as it will go, then back it down one turn.
Measure the distance from your insert to the marks to determine the maximum cut depth for each diameter.
