Antique carckle for milk paint

Just wondering if this stuff is supposed to smell like a septic tank or did I get an old container? ( I would bet my septic tank smells better )

The brand is Old fashoned Milk Paint.

It IS milk. I don't recall the smell, but it is probably it.
