Hello All,
Does anyone know a good supplier for “antique” glass for a barrister’s bookcase build. Looking for the wavy, flowing glass look that is in old glass windows. Supplier perferable located in Northern California Bay Area, but will take all input. Thanks for your help.

Look in yellow pages for a stained glass supplier, or google on the web and find a mail order place. No matter what you do bring lottsa $$$$
Ben,
I get my restoration glass from Bendheim Glass.( bendheim.com). I have bought the light restoration glass in large sheets and then cut it myself, but I believe they offer a cutting service.

ps, I tried to inset a link to the web site but it did not work, although bendheim.com works when typed into the address bar on my computer.

Try http://www.vandykes.com Search for glass wavy.
Any decent glass shop in your area should have the material or access to it. My suppliers get it from L.A. It goes by a different name, has the wavy lines, some air bubbles occassionally, it escapes me now. The sheets come random w&L, so getting large pieces is hit & miss. It is readily available.
DO NOT use stain glass in large panel doors. Glass from stained glass suppliers will not stand up to closing doors and will shatter. You must use restoration glass.

All,
I respectfully beg to differ with this advise. I have used large panels of art/stained glass in kitchen cabinet doors for years and never had a piece break. If they are properly mounted, this should never be a problem.

I have had good luck salvaging glass from old wood windows most contractors can give you more than you need. Also companys that do window replacement sometimes can help you.
Thanks all for your help.
Cheers,
