If it is a new mirror, the bonding process is much different that it used to be. I would suggest that you start with a new piece of glass and silver leaf foils. You simply place the foils on the glass shiny side down then carefully varnish over the top. The brush action will cause the leaf to wrinkle and start the antique look. Once the varnish is dry, you can fog it with flat black paint to get the desired effect you want. The last part is optional and you can experiment with different colors for different effects. The important part is to let the leaf wrinkle, crinkle and even tear a little. The effect you achieve is your choice.

Very good. I will keep that one in mind. I have mended a lot of mirror frames in my time, and the new glass, while looking very nice and new, looked a little out of place. Thanks.
Thank you
I believe that was exactly what I was looking for .
