Any feedback on Makisawa SC.650.1 portable tablesaw?
My son is looking for a small tablesaw and has asked my opinion, but my experience is with my 3HP Unisaw and other pro level saws. If I had my way I’d have him get a new Sawstop but he’s adamant that I don’t buy it for him and since he is still at a stage of life where he may be relocating frequently portability is a factor. I saw the Makisawa on Woodcraft.com but have never heard of the brand anyone use it? Any other thoughts would be welcome.

At first glance it is an underpowered toss it in the truck in case you need it contractor saw, but the decision should be based on what your son plans to do with it.
If he is used to working on your cabinet saw he'll hate it. If he works with large sheet goods he'll hate it, if only because it weighs about the same as a sheet of plywood.
"Help" him up to the sawstop jobsite saw and he'll have something to grow with.
I have to disagree with MJ, although the SC.650.I is not the portable saw you will carry for life, it definitely serve for its purpose. I've been using mine for small jobs for about 1.5yr and it delivers.
_MJ_ thanks for the input and I don't disagree with the assessment, but my son insists I don't do that. At the age of 24 he owns a very small home with a single car garage purchased without any assistance from dad and although I have used his setting up a shop as an excuse to upgrade a few of my tools and give him my hand me downs he wants to buy the tablesaw himself. I personally don't trust the safety of those mini saws, me with a 30yr old Unisaw that doesn't even have a riving knife, but I know many people use them.
Congrats on the independent son! Most 24yr olds are still "kids".
Point him at a used cast iron contractor saw with a mobile base. For the same cash he'll have a "real" saw. Troll craigslist, they're out there.
I just checked local CL here in NYC and there are dozens, including a 220 Jet cabinet saw for $150! Search "tablesaw" AND "table saw".
I agree with mj on finding a good used saw. If you want new, look at a DeWalt DWE7491X. it is a very good saw. You can find parts and support for it.
