I haven’t put together a system in several years and I’m just getting back into it. I’m trying to narrow down which design software best fits my needs (and budget, LEAP is out of reach). What are others, if there’s anybody out there, using?
Thanks, I look forward to your replies.

Have you gone to partsexpress.com ?, they are a good source for components, and some design information. I built a pair of altec lansing horn cabinets about 25 years ago, I wish I still had room for them.

They build many varieties of drivers. I bought (15 years ago) a set of plans for Corner horns made famous by Klipsch. Their design involves 3 sheets of plywood and 150 lbs of speakers. One 15 inch traditional and 2 horn speakers per cabinet. Never made them as my current home doesn't have a corner.
The speakers are tremendous and one friend that built a set of standard type swears by the quality. Mighty bassy sound.

And rec.audio.tech on usenet is a tremendous resource.
I just tinker with speaker building and have never used software but have had to resort to a calculator once or twice :-)
Have fun!
I built two very large stage speaker cabinets for a local/regional country/bluegrass band, "Alive & Pickin'," about 10 years ago. I used measurements supplied by the speaker manufacturer. They were made with 3/4" fir ply, covered with tough carpeting and corner reinforcements. They were a tuned port design with stiffeners in the panels to break up any resonance in the cabinet.
The last time I saw one of the band members, about 6 months ago, he said they are still using them and just love the sound they make. I'm happy about my work when I get reports like that.
Jam on, Guys!
