any suggestions moving 650lb j/p
If I ever get my 650 lb MiniMax 12in j/p from the driveway where it’ll be delivered around to the back, opposite side of the house, and in the back door (won’t be easy with sloped yard, grass, and possible snow), I still need to roll it about 75 feet, through two normal size doors and around corner. Any suggestions on a mobile base for in-house rolling? Any ideas on getting it through the yard in the first place?
ps: When I got the heavy table saw, the ground was dry (drought), the driver helped me with a palette jack get it into the door, and the ts had it’s own wheels (pm2000) once in the house; when I got the big, heavy bandsaw, I put the mobility kit on it in the driveway (ground was still dry as slate), and carefully rolled it down the slope (almost lost it once!).
Ground is wet now, and supposed to have snow/ice when it’s delivered… I have the blues…

Can you rent an air pallet? Lay some ply or sheet goods end to end (leapfrog 2 or 3 sheets) and use a small compressor to lift. You could push it with one finger.
Another possibility:
If you must slide it make a sled out of semi-truck mudflaps. The plastic type, not rubber. They are very tough, inexpensive, can be cut and are VERY slippery. Especially against one another. Try a local truck stop or dealership.
Use the snow/ice to your advantage and place it on a piece of ply or similar. Groom a path of ice like a Zamboni would do. Get on a pair of golf spikes, invite a couple guys to do the same and have a couple six paks waiting at the end.

I think your best bet is to rent or hire a small loader. My 30hp Kubota tractor with loader will lift about 1,000 pounds and I have used it several times to move machinery. It would be a considerable challenge to move your 650 pounds by manual means over wet/snowy earth but it would be a 10 minute job with a small loader.

Your situation sounds similar to mine, a 1200 lb Minimax J/P that needs to be transported from the garage to the door to the walkout basement down a very steep slope, a good 100 feet away.
I hired a local moving company that speicalizes in piano moving to move the machine, it was the best $300 I ever spent. It was like childs play for the movers. In less than 15 minutes the machine was moved from the garage to the basement, plugged in and operational.
Good luck with your new purchase..
If its anything like the new Jet 12" J/P I would be tempted to remove the jointer bed.
