Aloha All!
I’m looking at picking up a 36″ northfield bandsaw and setting it up for resawing. I saw my own veneers and guitar sets on a hitachi now, and I’m hoping that this would do a significantly better job. ( I’m cutting high value koa mostly so accuracy is very important)
Has anyone had experience with this machine?
Thanks Tai

I have a 20" Northfield BS. You will have no problems doing resawing.
Tai, I had a 20"Northfield years ago. They are built like a tank. They are manufactured with different speeds depending on what their primary purpose will be. One that was built to resaw will have a slower speed and a larger horsepower than one that was built for general purpose. You can call the owner of the company, give him your serial number and he will give you a rundown on the machine you are looking at. He likes doing this, it's almost like he thinks of the machines as his offspring. It seems like the max blade width was 3/4", although they can be modified for larger blades. But if you are sawing veneer I don't guess you want a wide blade anyway. Bill
Thanks Bill!
It did not occur to me to call them up.... I'll do that today. I'm working out a 3 phase converter for it today also and hoping that I do not need a new service to run this thing...... ( unplug clock.... run machine,,,,, repeat)...
Aloha Tai

Dang ya funny... I thought my 18" was to big!

The swing is 36". The resaw capacity is 18". Very good bandsaw.

So i could still cut a guitar out of a log,,, bore a soundhole,,, Slap on some strings and call 'er good... What a time saver!
Well, I'm not a luthier, but I don't think that's how they do it. Not too sure if this was intended for me.
