Anybody recieved the free Lie-Nielsen scraper ?
So, has anybody received the scraper in the return subscription deal ? I haven’t. I called and they “sent” a second one. Hmmmm. I have ordered and received magazine subscriptions for other magazines ordered after the FWW re-subscription.
I received the first issue of my new FWW magazine subscription long ago. I read it all at a leisurely pace. No scraper yet.
At this point I can not recommend anyone “taking advantage” of this “deal”.
Hopefully your results may vary.

Scraper caper
Some postal pilfering going on, perhaps? There might be a seller on eBay with a tell-tale name like PostalPauley selling them. ;-)
I did not receive mine as yet either
Thanks. I don't feel so all alone and forgotten now.

Postal Pilfer Pauley
Can you imagine the conversation in the penitentiary?
What are ya in for?
I stole scrapers from the mail.
What's a scraper?
It's a rectangular hunk of thin flat metal.
Did you get a lot of 'em?
J'yaaaah ! Boxes of em !
What do yah do with 'em?
Scrape stuff I guess.
Why?
I'm not quite sure.
(hope it was worth the five years in jail)
free Lie-Nielsen scraper?
I don't recall seeing this offer. But then I don't open any of the offers to renew my subscription for any of the magazines unless that subscription is about to expire. They seem to show up for each current subscription at least monthly, but many arrive more frequently. It doesn't seem to matter that your subscription may have a couple of years left on it. And some publishers will start multiple subscriptions to the same name and address. Taunton Press is just as guilty as the rest of them, plus seperate offers to buy their books too.
In my opinion, this is not how you are supposed to treat your existing or long-term customers.
Here we go.
I was throwing away e-mail and ran across the offer.
Note the fine print.
*Offer ends 12/23/10 or while supplies last. Offer is only good for U.S. domestic and Canadian subscriptions. Please allow 4-5 weeks for delivery of your free gift.
While supplies last.
I wonder if they ran out if they would say ? They mailed two to me (in theory; I didn't get em ) so must have had them in hand. Must be an address label problem.
Will look into it...
Hi Roc,
Sorry to hear about your scraper trouble... I'm not involved with the scraper mailings myself, but someone will get on the case. More to come...

Hey Bingo !
Gina,
1-27-11 , 7pm just got home and the intrepid Lie-Nielsen scraper was waitiing for me. Thanks
All,
I don't care what everybody else says; Fine Woodworking Magazine is all right.
: )
PS: thanks to those that supported me during this stressful time.
I wouldn't worry about it
If you had let your subscription to Fine Woodworking expire then they would have sent you an e-mail in the last few months offering to give you a free top of the line Lie-Nielsen card scraper if you renewed your subscription within a certain window of opportunity. I was not able to find my old offer in my e-mail "trash" folder. And did not find it any where else so I don't seem to be able to direct you but you would have received one if you are eligible.
Sounds like Gena is trying to make it right. I suspect the US postal service ran out of sick turtles so they haven't "shipped" the scraper yet and to get a healthy turtle FWW has to put more postage on than planned. Probably comes from the East coast. I haven't been there to witness it but I think what they do is tape the parcel to the back of the turtle and point him toward the ocean. If he happens to turn 180 degrees there is a chance you might get your parcel. If he falls off the pier well then often they die in trying to swim around the horn off South America. If that doesn't get em then the trip across the desert to get to Colorado from California surely will take them out.
Do I sound bitter ? I do get tired of the USPS sending my parcels all the way from the Eastern US to Denver and then back to say, New Jersey and then back to Denver again.
I am not kidding ! I've seen the tracking history from the supplier.
If one pays the extra dollar or so extortion money well then it is business as usual. What would Ben Franklin think? I wonder . Of course the US government never paid him back for all the money he LENT them so I doubt if he would be all that forgiving.
PS: Sorry you are out of glue. That's kind of sad. I got some old bottles sitting around here. I suppose I could ship yah one. Any body's guess if you would get it though ( see comments above ).
Get ready for things to get worse with the USPS. I bought an item from Bridge City, their jointing thing the cheap one. So they ship it, it goes to the USPS "international Distpach" and it sits there for 25 days while they check the package or it explodes, I guess whichever come first. So if you are sending or getting anything from Eastern Europe, you might as well arm yourself with a lot of patience.
Yeah!
Phew, glad the crisis was averted. Enjoy your new scraper. Take care, Gina
