Anybody use an incra fence on their table saw?
I am considering changing my current table saw fence to the incra and I am wondering how those of you that use one like it? Currently I have the Xacta fence which came with my Jet cabinet saw (version I) and I have not been really happy with it. This month I will be disassembling the saw to move to a new space and figured it would be a good time to change the fence. For those of you that use the incra, is it a step up from the common Biesmeyer clone? Is it worth the price?
Thanks in advance,
Bill

Incra Fence
Bill:
I've had the Incra TS-LS 52 (the 52" version of the Table Saw-Leading Screw) version for 10 years, and am very pleased with it. I know several other TS-LS owners, from Lumberjocks.com, whom are equally pleased. It's precise, tough, and repeatable. There are two considerations: first, you must have sufficient 'grey' space to the right of the Positioner (the bar that holds the fence), to allow the fence to move - this is about 30", depending on which TS-LS you get. I handle this by doubling-up the use of the grey space with my miter saw extension wing. second, the fence is annodized aluminum, and you won't be able to drill it, to add an aux fence (you can work around this, but it's one consideration, relative to a traditional fence. These two caveats are small in comparison to the repeatable accuracy, and dialing-in capability of the fence.
Installing the fence has two camps - one camp says "it's an erector set", and time-consuming (not difficult, it just takes a while); the other camp says it's a breeze: I think it depends on how 'handy' you are. Customer Service is excellent - I know of no one who faults Incra on its follow-up (Mark Mueller is the guy there, and he's very good - you may want to call him at Incra, just to chat about your purchase and your situation). After 10 years, I purchased a second fence, to use on my router table.
If you want to discuss this, please e-mail me at [email protected] - do log onto Lumberjocks.com, and query Incra.
