Anyone know how to remove the blade and chipbreaker from a Japanese Wood Planer
I recently found a Japanese Wood plane in my father’s garage after cleaning it out. I’m not quite sure how old it is but I noticed that the blade and the chipbreaker are dull and starting to rust. I want to clean it up and sharpen it up for him as a birthday present but the problem is is that I have no idea how to remove the blade and chipbreaker from the dai. I’ve been looking all over the Internet and haven’t gotten any help. Can anyone on here help me?
Thank you.

You tap the back of the plane to free the iron.
A few taps on the back of the plane should allow the iron to be lifted out of the plane. If it is really wedged tight you may need to hold the iron while you strike the rear of the plane to knock the iron loose.
