I was thinking of ordering a Veritas Apron plane and Flush plane from Lee Valley. (also a Router plane which I do not have)
I have two block planes but I wanted something smaller for general use. So the Apron Plane.. I just thought the Flush plan would be ‘nice to have’ because I’m always doing something like that with my Stanley 90 but the blade is only 1 inch wide.
Any opinions.. I’m not hung up on hand tools. However, they have their place when I cannot plug in something that will do the job!
Any opinions or is there something better I should be looking at..

Its not LV, but I wouldn't be without my LN 102 pocket plane. About the same size and if you get one in iron, almost similar in price. I would opt for the bronze as it just feels so good.
WG I have the LV apron plane and probably use it more than any other tool. No complaints on quality or value.
Thanks for the reply..I would opt for the bronze as it just feels so good.
I will look into that but sort of short of funds.. I just got my second payment for House Taxes today! DAMN!OK so I have some hidden money..
Thanks for the replys.
Hi Will
I have the bronze LN #103 and consider it my best plane. The LV block planes have a superb reputation that suggest that they are better users than the LNs. If I were buying afresh today, might well get them instead (I also have the LN 60 1/2). I do like the bling on the LN block planes, which is a reason to own them :)
What would get my total attention would be if the Apron Plane has straight sides. The #103 is coffin shaped, and this prevents it being used on a shooting board (yes I do such things). Straight is good.

You are not thinking square. You already have two block planes and no router. One router plane is worth an infinite number of blocks. And a router plane is useful, as well as having two knobs.
That "Apron" plane has no knob and must also live in a holster, otherwise it will not work properly. Also you will need two as these days fire power is the order of the day.
I played with an LV router plane yesterday. Wow, it was VERY nice. Never even held one before, and now I gotta have it. Thing is, I was in the market for a smoother, or a low-angle jack, or... but that's a different story. But now I'm thinking about getting the router plane first, then I can tell my wife I still haven't gotten the plane I need, oops, and can't finish those nightstands until I do.
can't finish those nightstands until I do.NO wife is that dumb unless she want you to believe that!Good luck.. I'd hold her tight all night before before you say that!
You are not thinking square.I'm square.. Why my wife like me.. I was flexible.
