Are there any inexpensive sources for Acme threaded rods and nuts?
I am considering trying to construct my own vises for a workbench but all the sources I see are substantially more expensive than even high-end, name-brand vises (LN and LV). Looking for 1.25-4 or 1.25-5 threaded rods and corresponding nuts. So far I’ve found 36″ lengths for $350-$400 , and 10-12 ft lengths for $60/ft. The $75 Woodriver screws from Woodcraft are looking better and better…

A while back, I was interested in making a Moxon vise for elevating dovetail boards on my bench. Here are some links I ran across--they may be less expensive than what you've found. Good luck. Tom
