I am new here and was wanting to know if there is a place to buy Ash runners for an old rocking chair that was passed down to me. I assume the runners are Ash, they have no visible grain and are naturally very light in color. This rocker was from the 60’s or 70’s and came from a local hardware store in the South. If a pic of the runner showing the bare wood would help I will try to post one. I am nowhere near most of you guys level of craftsmanship, probably the next level down from a beginner for me, LOL.
So it seems the runners are not Ash, I am learning something. I attached a pic here and one farther down to see if they can be identified, as you can see I am no Photographer either.

Ash has very visible grain, so it may not be ash. They could be hickory or maple.
Post a couple of pictures if you can.
I'll try to get a couple of pic's this weekend or Monday.

The wood is rough and dirty, which makes an ID difficult. I'm leaning toward maple, but it could be lots of things.
Should I sand a spot so you can see the grain or lack of?

No visible grain, whitish, and hard would lead me to guess maple, but that picture with the hole and chip out looks pinkish like red oak.. at any rate, try googling rocking chair runners and see what you get, otherwise try some bent lamination or steam bending and make them!!
Hickory ?
