Ashley-Iles Chisels Out of Stock!?
In another thread jazzdog and several others picked up on the fact I had bought a set of Ahley-Iles Amercian Pattern “shortie” chisels. They were in the market and went to the website to look. They were out of stock. I told jazzdog I would call today since I’m on vacation and check. Here’s what I found tor those interested.
Tools For Working Wood www.toolsforworkingwood.com said they expect some in two weeks. Some are already spoken for. They hope to have the situation alleviated by the first of year even though not positive at this point. Here’ why.
Ray Iles, Barry and their dozen or so employee’s are working as hard as they can to catch up. The American Pattern set has been well recieved and suddenly in demand. Ninety sets were sold at a recent WW Show in the NY area. A dozen craftsmen making chisels by hand can only produce so much, so quick without giving up quality and they refuse to do that. They are a small company that has made turning and carving tools for many years. Everything has been dropped and priority has gone to the Amerecan Pattern bevel-edge “shortie” at this moment to meet the demand.

Joel, the owner of Tools For Working Wood says that if you would like to place and order, the price is locked and the CC# is not charged till they are recieved and the chisels are shipped. You can cancel the order at any time. If you are not happy with any product they sell, it may be returned and they pay the postage.
If anyone in the market is interested in personal feed-back on this chisel, I will answer to the best of my ability. Would I wait to get them as opposed to order another chisel in stock. You bet I would. They’re that good and reasonable. Others might not as our priorities vary.

Sarge,
Thanks a million! It's nice to know there are still people, like you, who are men of their word: your trustworthiness and honesty are laudible traits many of us are working hard to emulate.

Not a problem as I'm on vacation this week. It is information I was curious about myself. I spoke with Joel (the owner) for about 30 minutes and picked up some good info on the chisels and some other things they carry as the new Norton white wheel they have coming out soon. The white wheel sounds good also.
When you give your word, you give your word. Where I come from that's a contract. Besides, my probation officer might get me. ha..ha..

Thanks..... I knew I had blown it when I tried to click on and it ask me to get off the premises. :>)
And I was careful to copy it down. Went back over it with the donor. And still got it wrong. As you can tell, the computer is not exactly my strong suit. But I keep trying and someday hope to make those BIG letters that everyone else does. If I can ever get the scoop on that, consider me armed and dangerous. ha..ha..
Thanks again...

Sarge, you are such a pal! I know if they were on my Christmas list, I'd be more than willing to wait for a set in January, rather than go for a less desireable set. They sound great.
[I'm about to steal your tag line to add it to mine<g>]
