I will probably live to regret this but:-
I am 68, entirely amateur, and usually make for friends and family, never more than at material cost and usually for free since I scrounge and recycle a lot. Most weekends I float round places I know have a turnover of old hand tools, planes, obscure items and the like. On holiday I found a brand new “Safe-T -Planer” for £3 in a junk shop. That puts me in the U.K. Now, if this is permitted:-
If you are truely stuck for a particular old tool, blade or non power item for own use only, then for requests in Knots only (no private communication) I will do my best within my routine to see if I can find what is needed and send it at cost and p&p only. Nothing expensive but tatty molding planes are usually about £5 to £8 and I can quote you in advance.
Head up “Mufti Want” and I will do my best. I suggest we try three separate single requests at first and since mail is open to all it will be obvious if this works.
Obviously no Norris planes and please no collectors! Finally if anyone defaults on money I have laid out then I stop.
Any comments are welcome.Any suggestions for mailing without revealing identities to unwelcome sources?

There are more efficient ways of doing this - including eBay! You'll also find it difficult to enforce your 'rules'.
Good luck tho.

I too have often looked for items (hard to find in the US) like replacement parts for Record planes and such.
I haven't had any real problems with buying from the UK both direct and thru ebay.
The thing I hate about ebay is the auction system, where the item I need or want ends up selling to someone else at the last minute.
I for one would be more then happy to deal with you directly or thru the forum here.
I even would pay in advance (like ebay) for the item and shipping.
Right now I happen to be looking for the top cap and screw knob that holds the irons in to a Record 044 plough plane, maybe you can help.
I'd even be happy to set up some arrangement to do a bit of trading, buying, shipping, etc with you.
Drop me a note here on the forum or me direct (or both) at:

Good talking with you.

Thank you, and the others for the response! I have a 43 myself and the 44 cap may be similar. There are boxes of broken planes and bits so I will have a rummage next saturday and come back to you.
I cannot sell any of my own tools, my wife intends to start an unused and vintage tool hire and supply business when I go.
My son uses E Bay, I cannot even use texting on my phone. Do I have to switch it on?

The 043 and 044 cap are the same.
Great if you have one or can find one.
Can't answer the phone question as I haven't figured out mine system either,
I've only started using ebay in the past month myself and barely know it.
I haven't even tried to sell anything on it (I also don't know how to do pictures,) nor have a selling account.
Jeff
What a wonderful, truly generous, offer.
You have reminded my of just how wonderful people can be.
Awesome.
