I’m building a tall clock and have a question regarding assembly order for the inset doors. Do I attach the doors before finishing or after. I have already cut the mortises for the hinges, but have not yet drilled holes for the screws. This may be a “socks first or pants first” question, but if there is a good reason for a particular order, I would like to know.
Thanks to all.

I always fit, mount and adjust the doors before finishing. Then remove them for finishing. That way, if there's any "tweaking" to be done, you get it done before the finish goes on. And final mounting is just a matter of driving a few screws home.

Everything fits, until you put glue on it.
thanks Mike.
Same here, Mike. I completely assemble my projects (doors, hinges, drawer glides, drawer fronts, pulls and knobs) before finishing. Something always need a bit of a "tweak", and it's way easier to fix an unfinished piece.I even dial in the adjustments on euro hinges and mark them so I put them back where they belong. - lol
