If you want to display a photo as part of the message, you have to have the photo uploaded to a website freely accessible to the net, then reference it by using html coding in your message. The basic pattern looks like this:
<img src="http://www.message_address.jpg">
An actual example:

To learn the url for a photo you see on the web, right click on it, then look at "properties"; the address will be displayed. You can save a photo to your own computer by right clicking on it, then selecting "save to file".

Jeff, to upload attachments, you need to be sure you are in "Advanced View" and not the "Basic View" that is the other option here at Knots. Look at the very bottom of the right-hand frame (below the end of these messages) to find what view you are in.
OK, when you click on "reply" to a post, and the composition box comes up, scroll down until you see a row of orange buttons "Post" "Preview" etc. One of the buttons will say "Attach Files" -- click on that and follow the instructions.
Including images directly in your posts is kinda fun, but you need to be sure the file size is small (I usually keep the in-line type photos below 25kb) so they don't delay downloading the thread as people are browsing. But, as Norm indicated, you have to have the picture hosted somewhere and write in the html.

Oops, I forgot about that FG--except on my screen, the buttons at the bottom of the reply screen say:
O WYSIWYG O Source
Since WYSIWYG is the default, you have to click the "Source" button or any html code in your message won't work.

Norm, the orange buttons I was referring to are past the WYSIWYG bubbles -- down just above where the post you're replying to is featured. Some day I'm going to use PaintShop Pro to capture a pic of the composition page, and put in arrows and captions and all that fun stuff!forestgirl Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>) you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I'm gonna try the html code thingy.

Sorry Norm - doesn't work for me. I tried the <img sc" prefix too and it kicked me out of the source bubble back into WYSIWYG

It seems to work here. Remember, you have to start out in "source", then use angle brackets to enclose the <img src="xxx.jpg"> information. The address itself must be within quotation marks as well. The above address looks like this in source view:

FG.... I think part of the prob could be something similar to my own prob in posting pics... hit the "attach files" button and nothing happens....
My guess is that it's something to do with Norton.. still waiting for the techs to get back to me....Mike Wallace

Mike, it could very well be a pop-up blocker problem. If you have a program for this, turn it off and see if that helps!forestgirl Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>) you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
FG..I've just been looking "under the hood" in Norton; it doesn't seem to have a pop up blocker as such although it does block pop ups. However it does screen and block java and html scripts. I'm guessing that this has something to do with the prob. I might try a trick or two to work around it without actually switching the protection off..Thanks for the pointer...Mike Wallace

Mike,
I use a Mac and I had problems at first trying to post a photo. It turned out that my photo program wasn't automatically adding the ",jpg" thing. Mac's don't need that appendage but it seems that the lesser system does. So, if you use a mac, that could be the difficulty.
I ummm... canna claim that as an excuse either Sophie.... built my own PC....<prone to the odd blonde moment...>I blame my mom.....Mike Wallace
