Attaching hinges to beaded doors and frames
Friends,
I am building kitchen cabinets and would like to apply cock beading around either the frames or the doors themselves. I have not decided which option yet though. I would like to use a traditional type of hinge though, not a European hinge. Since the door will fit flush with the frame and the beading will stick out about 1/8th of an inch, is it possible to use a traditional hinges and have it still look and fit nice? do they make special hinges which will accent this?

I did the same sort of inset door on kitchen cabinets I built. I used no mortise hinges in order to not interfere with the looks of the beading I set around the door frame opening. The non-mortise hinges worked well and require a 2 degree bevel cut on the hinged side of the door. The bevel allows the door to close completely without springing. Make a story stick to set the position of the hinge on the door and the frame.
