I have always used epoxy to attach magnets to my jig, however they always eventually pop out. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

You might try using super glue instead of epoxy. Or if it doesn't have to be real pretty, set a couple of steel ring nails next to the magnet so their heads extend over it. Might need to recess the magnet a tiny bit but the heads of the nails will expand the magnetic field.
Thanks Dave, I'll try your suggestions.
They have steel cups, fasted with a screw, to match the size of the magnet. It would be removable, but replaceable.
KJ Magnetics sells magnets with pre-drilled countersinks in many strengths and configurations.
depending on the thickness of your wood, you could cut the head off 16 penny nails, plus a little to drive into the wood, and drive them under the magnet to help hold it in place.
I tried it once, left a 1/2" of the nail and it worked, but I was using a 2x2. Plenty of depth for the nail.
Good luck,
Mikaol
I drill a tight-fitting counterbore hole with a Forstner. I have glued magnets into these holes with epoxy, super glue or contact cement. I have never lost one. What size magnet and under what situation do they fail?
Second on the pre drilled ones. BTW, have you ever tried to drill a hole in a magnet? It's absolutely impossible.
I found K&J magnetics but unsure which product you are referring to. Can you provide a link please?
Thanks
I think The magnets being referred to are the ring magnets.
They come in all sizes and strengths. I have used several (mostly ring boxes)
I use a small screw and a bit of CA glue in a drilled hole . then cover with a VERY thin veneer to cover both. So far never heard a complaint.
Here is the link to the main page for all the ring magnets.

What kind of jig? How strong a magnet do you need?
Thanks MJ!
