I’m building a large entertainment center for a
36″ Sony TV. The TV is very heavy, so my thought
was to build a hard maple frame (say about 1 3/4″
sq) for the bottom half, double tenons on the
bottom stretchers/rails, dovetails on the top, all
of which would be hidden by the cherry face frame
and bottom moulding. The sides are cherry plywood.
The question is, what is the best way to attach
the frame to the sides? Would it pay to make a
large dado/rabbet in the sides, or just use double
biscuits?
Anyway, I’m probably way off base as I start
designing this, but any input would be greatly

I rarely use anything but glue to attach the face frame to the carcus. Make sure that all the components are square, and use plenty of clamps. I usually attach the backs after the glue has set to give me better access to the center of the cabinet and to stagger the clamps. Don't worry, this a tried and true method and I've used this technique for very large casework with no problems.TC
