Looking for advice on proper/straight attachment of thin lids (<3/16″ thick) onto boxes? Most small box hinges come with 1/2″ screws. So far I have been grinding down the screws and epoxying them into place. Works ok but makes adjustment near impossible.

little screws
Your best bet is to buy screws separately, in the size appropriate for your boxes. For 3/16" stock, however, you might need to use small machine screws with nuts, instead of regular flat-head wood screws. With denser woods, you can actually thread the machine screw into the wood, effectively "tapping" the wood.
boxes and thinking
It's always enlightening when "The Boxmaker" suggests thinking outside the box, so to speak. Your suggestion of looking for alternate, more creative solutions, is right on, Dusty.
As an aside, there was a discussion of the "evolution" of terms in another thread. In that spirit, may I suggest a change to your signature? I propose the following in lieu of "boxmaker" - "maker of qcquisition containment and display units". ;-)
OK
You literally made me laugh out loud with that one, Dusty.
