I’m actually a gardener, but I have a question that I’m hoping someone can answer for me. I have four metal trellis’ that I would like to hang on the side of my garage. I bought some screw in hooks and thought I would just drill holes in the clapboard siding. My husband thinks this is a bad idea. I wanted to be able to take them off so if I needed to repaint I could. Does anyone have any suggestions or is it alright to drill holes in our siding? Thanks so much.

Depends on what your siding is, among other things. If it is wooden shingle or clabpboard, you should anchor the trellis into the studs- these are usually easy to see from the inside in a garage.
I built a trellis for the roses around my front door from cedar, I attached it to the house with stainless steel fasteners to avoid rust stains on the painted clapboards.
Many trellises don't require heavy duty support- the plants themselves can keep them in position if they are anchored in place at the ground. If your husband is still leary about fastening the trellis to the structure, consider using short lengths (~4 foot) of rebar driven into the ground about 2 feet deep. You can wrap SS wire around the rebar and the trellis and it will stay put. You can buy short rebar pieces at a home center for a few dollars each.
