I am building a vanity for my daughter with Walnut, 3/4″ thick. In the picture Area 1 & 2 are secured to the below drawers with threaded inserts. Area 3 is a lid that opens, there are hidden SOSS hinges between Area 3 & 4. I need a solution to attached Area 4 top. I was considering screwing it down and covering the screws with walnut plugs. I was considering gluing it, but worried about wood movement. The clearance underneath Area 4 is tight, and will have of small drawers eventually so difficult to use threaded inserts. I include a picture of the framing below the top for reference. Thank you in advance for your ideas.

Pocket screws from the back, snug dowels side-to-side.
Cutting #3 out of the top and leaving 1,2, & 4 as one piece would have been the move, but this is sort of a reassembly. If you have one, this is a spot where the Domino would kick ass.
Originally #3 & #4 was going to be one piece but the lid was too big, so I broke it down into 2 pieces. I appreciate the pocket screw/dowel guidance. Thank you for the response.
