Hello all.
I’ve just made some drawer pulls out of Bubinga to attach to a lingerie chest. Thing is, I’m not really sure how to attach them. The ones you buy in the store have these metal inserts for machine screws and the metal ones are, well, metal. Do I need to buy the inserts and do it that way? Should I just attach the pulls with wood screws? (Pre-drilled, of course)
This is my first time making my own so I’d appreciate any advice…

I prefer to use wooden pulls myself, and have always attached them with woodscrews.

Yes, just pre-drill and screw them in. Bubinga is pretty hard stuff, they'll hold (I LOVE Bubinga).
Equally or more important is how to get them to line up in the drawer perfectly. I'm a clutze, so I drill a bigger hole in the drawer face, and use special screws for this app, with a very wide, oval head (sold by McFeelys). Gives you a little play for that perfectly tight look.

aak, blind drill the backs of the knobs with a # 30 drill
Then tap 8-32 threads with a starting tap of the same size,
( Making sure not to penetrate too close to the front of the knob.)
This can be done using a slow speed reversable
cordless drill. Use a bit of bee's wax to lubricate
the tap. After two holes are threaded,
clean out the tap's flutes with your fingernail
and re wax the tap.
Bubinga is a tough material and the threads
will not 'Strip out ' (As it will do on soft wood)
8-32 pan headed machine screws can be bought
in any big box store or, for a wider pan head screw,
check out Rockler or any cabinet hardware outlet
