I was going to put a bid in , but then I noticed it's 3 Phase, Darn!

Wow I think this might solve the vibration problem I have with smaller lathes. There is often need stuff on e-bay there was an Oliver lathe that would turn an 6 foot diamater piece a while back I think the lathe weighed about 4000 pounds.
Thanks for the post.

Philip,
This would be the lathe I've been searching for to make my log furniture. Didn't know they made lathes this large. Darn, I just spent that much on my Mini Max sliding table saw! Sell a couple more of your planes and it could be yours. And then a couple more to pay for shipping costs. Although those costs could be recouped if you turned your shop into a museum for plane and lathe lovers. This has reminded me of a woodworker here in my town that owns two very large band saws, I'm talking about 10 ft or more in height. I'll try and look him up and post some pictures. Happy Holidays!
Danny
Dan , I am surrounded by many artefacts here, but would appreciate the pictures of band saws you mention....Philip Marcou
I'll try and get by for some pictures this week. I think with the popularity of band saws of late that many others would love to see these as well.
Danny
Dear lord! That thing definately belongs in the Lone Star State!
Pardon my spelling,
Mike
Make sure that your next project is beyond your skill and requires tools you don't have. You won't regret it.
You want me to go out there to look at it? It's less than 100 miles.
"It's less than 100miles"!
Ask the owner to push it outside-you should be able to see it on the horizon (;)Philip Marcou
I think they'll need a light on it- it's still snow.....wait! I feel a rumble! I think they're moving it! It's coming this way!!!!!
"I cut this piece four times and it's still too short."
So! I see our pattern makers lathe has sold for $16,000.00 and change in US dollars. Yikes! thats a lot of dough, or planes in your case. More than twice what I paid for my new panel saw. Hope the buyer has a very large shop. still working on the pictures of the very large bandsaws here in town. I still haven't purchased a single plane yet. Lataxe(David) has been working on me though, to buy one of your magnificent works of art. Happy Holidays!

Danny, thanks for that. When I looked for it it had gone-is there a way to find what price an item sold at once it has gone? (I am not knowledgeable on how Ebay works).
19k is a fair heap, and I wander if the lathe is to be put to work or is for enjoyment purposes. In the future I suspect it could command an even bigger price if it is well maintained.Philip Marcou
Philip,
Here is the link to the completed auction for the Wadkin lathe.
As for searching recently completed items:
Look to the immediate right of the main search bar at the top of the Ebay home page for Advanced Search
Click advanced search - then input keyword or item # and pick category (or search all categories). Underneath the category box check "completed listings only" - then click search
Cheers,
Lee
Thanks Lee- I think you know why I am boning up on e bay....Meanwhile back at the ranch there has been an ominous happening....Philip Marcou
Philip,
Yeah, just keep plugging away on the e-bay site and you'll get used to all the features. One thing you can do if you want to follow and item or are interested in purchasing and item but don't want to have to keep looking it up is to click on " watch this item". If you've already signed up(have your own e-bay account), then by clicking on "watch this item", the e-bay site will automatically send regular updates on that item to your personal e-mail account so that you won't miss a last minute bid. Powerful marketing toll this e-bay is! Good Luck.
Danny
Also, I believe you can find out through e-bay who purchased it and send them an e-mail. E-bay is not just an auction site. You can also set up an e-bay store, to sell or market your items. I can't believe you haven't done this yet. Anyways I'm going to do some running around today and see if I can't find those giant bandsaws. Not sure if he still lives at the same residence or not.
Danny
That thing is a HOSS, no its a HOSS AND A HALF!!!
Ron
