baby cradle and crib plans needed
I would like to build my own crib and cradle for my child. But the only plans I have been able to find online cost something and I wanted to ask you-all if you know where I could find some good ones at no cost.
I wouldn’t mind trying to design my own crib, but the cradle I don’t want to try to design it my self. My luck, I would design it where the thing would tip over when I put my baby in it to rock.
Any help is appreciated.

I have an old shaker design plan for a cradle that I could fax to you if you're interested. It sits at floor level and rocks. It has compound angle dovetail joints at the corners that are a little tricky but not overly difficult. You could simplify with a splined miter or some other joint if you are not comfortable with the dovetails. I have made three of them at half scale for for my three daughters dolls.

I would like to check that out Brian, but I have no access to any fax machines. Thank you just the same though!

Do what I did. Go buy the pad first then build around the pad. I built 3 that way. All of my own design. Plans were in my head.

Planewood,
I may end up trying to do that. The only reason I would want some type of plans is that I am still very new to woodworking and I don't want to mess up real bad.
Thanks Rodney
First I got the pad, then made the ends of the cradle with a pivot point for swinging. Then made the sides so that they would fit onto the ends with 4 brass screws for each side. Then I made the stand with verticals going up to the pivot point. The pivot was 1" dowel rods with wooden end caps on the inside. The bottom of the cradles was 1/4" plywood that slid in and out of grooves routed into the sides and ends.
All 3 were basically done this way to allow disassembly and storage after the baby grows out of it. The details were different on each of the 3.

I built the cradle from the WOOD magazine. Full scale drawings included. I will look it up and if you wish, can scan you a copy of the cradle, if you like it, I can either mail you a full size copy of the plans and instructions, or send you my 1/4" cut out pattern
Good Luck
Savage,
That would be super! I hate for you to have to go through so much trouble though. Here is my email if you need my home addy. [email protected] I really appreciate it. Thank you,

No problem, Please supply me with your mailing address. The plan comes from the December 1996 Wood magazine #85
Ditto planewood.
I made four corner posts, tenoned in rails with mortises for random width planks i got from firewood (burly walnut!) from my granddads wood pile and put it on rockers. Didn't get the rockers on till after the boy was to big. Sure turned out nice, tho. First piece i did with compound angled joinery. way easier to do than to spell.

George,
I don't know what I am doing wrong but I can not open it. It takes me to the works word processor program and nothing is there? I don't know what I am doing wrong?
Thanks Rodney
