Hi folks,
A month ago, a good friend moved into a retirement home, and was sadly forced to dispose of his workshop. I helped him move, and — knowing that every dollar is very important to him now — offered to sell his tools and accumulation of woodworking magazines. The tools went quickly and at good price locally, and then 10 days ago I placed an ad here for the magazines (in the “Back Issues of FWW for Sale” section). I set the price after considering their condition, and looking at what others seemed to be charging.
So far, not a single reply. Apparently I over-priced, maybe by a lot. (Or, maybe nobody here happened to be interested in those particular magazines, nevermind the price). If you folks can give me some objective advice on how to more fairly price these, I’d be grateful.
This also raises a second question. My own set of FWW is almost complete (missing only #1, #2 and #4, if I recall correctly), and I also have a *complete* set of FHB. I may need to move soon, too, and if so will (regretably) likely have to sell MY magazines as well. (Talk about gut-wrenching!) That decision isn’t made yet, but if I do, what’s a fair price for those as sets? And where will I be best advised to list them for sale?
Any input will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Type in something like fine woodworking magazine in Ebay's search window. FWW sells for a nice price over there.
Marsman,
If you go to the "Back Issues of FWW for Sale" section of this site and click on the little file icon on the left side of the heading, you'll open up all the postings that have been made, over 500 of them. Scanning through, you'll probably get a pretty good idea of what the set you're selling is worth. In general I've seen most full sets selling for around $450, but I don't know if they're getting buyers at that price.
Sets for sale in the classified section of FWW Magazine have been offered at around that price for several years. Putting the set in the FWW Magazine classifieds would get you a much larger audience than just posting on the web site.
An alternative way of selling them would be to post them on E-bay, but that can be fairly complicated for someone that is unfamiliar with their system. Most places have services that will handle selling through E-bay for a percentage of the selling price.
Hope this helps, John W.
