What kind of blade should one use on a bandsaw when cutting plastics? Is it good practice to use the same blade being used to cut wood?
Thanks, Larry

Call Iturra. I would think you need a wide set, big gullet skip tooth blade to get rid of the waste quickly and to keep the blade cool.

Larry,
If you're cutting acrylics, polycarbonates, etc., in thickness' of 1/2" or less, then the best BS blade to use is 1/8"-3/8" with about 10-14 TPI. The wider the blade the greater the heat build-up.
If your making router templates which require smooth edges this will have to be done with a router.
Also, the chips have a nasty way of getting between the blade and the tires which will cause tracking problems for you. So you will have to clean often. Good luck.
Regards,
Phillip
