I have a 18″ Jet bandsaw and would like some input regarding the possibility of putting a brake on it. Any ideas?

Guy, can't for the life of me think why you would want a brake on a small bandsaw like that.But it can be done by changeing the motor for one with a magnetic brake in built-what can you get in America?Depends upon how innovative you are-other ways such as braking one of the wheels or pulleys will need some Macgyvering about...
If we are talking 3 phase then it is easier to do by electronic means.
