Does this machine have regular glued tires? If so, standard procedure is to put them on, then trim with a utility knife.
Pete
Yes, I believe they are glued on, it's not my machine. I am trying to help a friend of mine. I think I can understand what you mean. However ive never tried this. If you glue the over sized tire on to the wheel , then use a razor to trim the tire to the inside of the wheel channel?
Thanx
Ej,
yes, that's how it is done. Try Iturra design, they might have what you are looking for, they specialize in bandsaws and after market parts and accessories. They also have great info on changing/replacing tires.

Thanx Mapleman,
it never ocurred to me that the tires might be oversized in width purposely. As he nor I have ever done this I guess its part of that "curve", Thanx again for the help. Eric
I've never trimmed down a tire for a channeled wheel, though I know it's doable. If you're a first timer, finding tires of the right width will make the job somewhat easier.

Eric, like Lee (mapleman) said, contact Iturra Design. They don't have a web site, here's their phone number:

Have you contacted Jet service. Can't believe they don't have replacement tires. They do for their 14" BS.
Just trim the 1.5" down with a sharp razorblade (hand fed of course) after they're installed.
We just replaced some northfield tires sized for our saw from the manufacturer, and easily trimmed them to fit. Very professional looking also.
Good luck.
Urethane Band saw tires for the 18" Jet can be gotten from http://www.eagleamerica.com Part # 485-1419. With these tires there is no need to glue or trim ! They will be a direct replacement, they were designed to be 4% undersized so that when installed they will grip the wheel on there own, Life can be easy!
Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

Almost all band saw tires are undersized prior to installation. Mileage will vary as to whether glue is required.Pete
