I have a chance to purchase a Walker Turner bandsaw, used, for a reasonable amount. The owner has sent some pictures & I have returned some questions. So, does anyone have experience (or know of anyone who has) w/ these machines?
Thanks,

I have a 16" Walker-Turner that I rescued from a sign shop about 25 years ago. It's identical to the one that was featured in a FWW article several years ago. I had to strip off several years of over-spray, replace the tires and a bearing or two. Since then the saw has been performing flawlessly. I also added a Wood Miser blade from Highland Hardware. WOW! what a difference a good blade makes!
I recently bought a small Powermatic with a riser block. It's a really good saw with a good fence and an efficient vacumn port, but I find myself still using the old W-T most of the time. It's indispensable for everything from ripping uneven stock to trimming a dowel.
If the saw you're considering is complete, has not been subjected to poor quality welding repairs and priced right I don't believe you can go wrong.
Thanks for the info. I'll look into it.
