I have an old Craftsman bandsaw with flat blade guides 3/4×1 by 1/4 inch thick made of STEEL! The lower guides are near the same size but made of hard CARDBOARD! My question is- What material is best to make new guides out of? And where can I get some? Contact me at [email protected] …..Thanks

My bandsaw uses steel guide blocks. All the bandsaws I used in school had steel guide blocks. If they're set right, they should work just fine. The only time I use something different, is when I'm cutting with an 1/8" blade, then I use homemade blocks made from hard maple so I can trap the entire blade.
