OK folks I am pretty new to this whole BS resaw thing. So early in the summer I was at a wood working show and the guy showed how to set up a band saw to resaw. I went home and did that and wonders never end it worked like a charm. So resawing I go (mostly clear pine and Cherry). So I am starting to notice that the blade is not cutting as well as it used to and I am starting to get really minor drift (it was dead nuts straight before)
So the question here is what is the first signs of a blade going dull, and how long do you figure a blade will last?
Oh this is a pretty cheep (say under $20) low tooth count blade. I miss remember the make. I would have to stop and think about it but it has done hundreds of board feet buy this point.

You answered your own question!!!! It depends....but you can see the signs....
Yes, I assume it is dull, But is it dull because of use or some other reason? Is this normal to need to buy a new blade after several hundred feet of cutting or should you get a thousand or more (I know this is hard to say but in a ball park sort of way) I do not mind needing a new blade I just want to know if I have other issues, and how many blades I should keep on hand.
For that matter do you have a preferred (cheep) resaw blade?

The blade is dull now. If the blade has 4 teeth or less per inch you can easily resharpen the blade yourself. Most people throw the blade out, I do too if the blade has to many teeth per inch. The process is very simple, email me if your interested. I have posted this method several times already in the past, thus I'll skip posting it this time unless someone wants it. Should be in the archives.
