I was watching John White’s FWW video on settting bandsaw blade tension. Using the shop-made jig, he set the blade tension to yield 0.003″ of blade “stretch” to get the proper tension. Is this setting the same for any blade width? it would seem a narrow blade would require less stretch compared to a wider one?
Has anyone had good results using this method?
Thanks to all who respond.

I am uncertain with his technique. I haven't watched his video yet. Setting band saw blade tension is critical. And there are lots of methods like plucking a guitar until it produces a clear tone . Regardless of the width of the band saw blade, it requires the same amount of tension for maximum resistance that needs to be applied on the blade. The most accurate way to measure/check the blade tension is by using tension meter.
