Hi,
Some years ago I bought a model 490 General bandsaw and have been very satisfied with my purchase. However on two occasions lately the rubber tires have come off the wheels when the saw was in use. This happened whilst using a 1/2″ and a 1/4″ blade. The wheel alignment, blade tension etc all seem to be correct. I was only making light cuts at the time. The tires are original but not grooved and seem to be in good condition. They also seem to be a tight fit on the wheels.
Do you have any idea of what may be the cause?
Thank you,
Terry

The tires don't last forever, they can lose their elasticity. The solution is to but new tires on the saw. I can't think of any other typical cause for the problem.
If your saw is a typical cast iron frame 14" saw, the tires from any similar machine will fit.
